Jaeger LeCoultre Titanium Master Minute Repeater

Posted by Mark

This is my current dream watch but sadly costs like an arm, a leg and an additional $100,000.

Minute Repeaters do have an interesting history though. They were originally invented back in 1676 and they were very useful because before the invention of electricity this was a way of telling time at night in the dark.

If you watch the video above you’ll notice three different sets of strikes. The first series of strikes tells you what hour it is, the second series of strikes tells you the number of quarter hours and the final series of strikes tells you the amount of minutes after the quarter hours. In the video above it dings 9 times, then double dings 3 times, and then single dings again 13 times. First dings says its 9 o’clock, the 3 double dings signal 3 quarter hours which is 45 minutes, the final dings says add 13 minutes on top of the 45 which equals 58. So the time is 9:58. [YouTube]

I’m not a fan of TAG but this watch is a feat worth respecting, it has a chronograph that can measure up to 1/1000th of a second. [Link]

Casteller

In the city of Tarragona, Spain, castellers gather every two years to see who can build the highest, most intricate human castles. This uniquely Catalan tradition requires astonishing strength, finesse, and balance. Not to mention courage.

Absolutely beautiful, I love the colors! [Vimeo]
